Amplifying the History Curriculum for MultiLingual Learners
Calling all local teachers and school leaders to join us as we celebrate the publication of the second edition of Amplifying the Curriculum: Designing Quality Learning Opportunities for Multilingual Learners. The book, co-edited by George Bunch, draws on research, theory, and practice to argue for a shift away from “simplification” as the guiding principle for the education of multilingual learners toward “amplification”. We will focus on the History/Social Studies chapter titled, “Selecting, Preparing, and Using Multiple texts in the History Classroom, ” and consider teaching the Deportations of the 1930s. The event will include presentations and discussions about creating, inclusive learning environments and advancing equity using student-centered curriculum frameworks! We will host these events at both a Santa Cruz County and Monterey County location.
